Dr. Jill Moland, referred to by her clients as Dr. Jill, Is a licensed psychologist and former teacher for the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo, CA. Dr. Jill has worked with children of all ages for over 30 years.
During her long and illustrious teaching career, Dr. Jill has taught grades first, second, and third, and also conducted computer classes for kindergarten through sixth grade students, including special needs children.
While in the midst of her educational career, Dr. Jill received a grant from the Southern Poverty Law Center for her project on “Teaching Social Studies Through Diversity." She also worked as a learning therapist at the Learning Clinic for 6 years, designing enrichment and remediation programs for children in grades kindergarten through eighth.
As a school counselor intern, Dr. Jill worked with kindergarten through eighth-grade students in the areas of peer mediation, organizational skills, and social skills, and she also provided individual counseling.. As a psychologist, for 7 years she has taught social skills to children ages 5-12 and worked individually with children, teens, and adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, and stress.
Dr. Jill maintains an impressive and extensive educational background. She earned an Associate of Science degree from Ventura Community College which led to her assignment as a preschool teacher for 7 years beginning when she was just 19 years of age. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts at California Lutheran University where she also earned her teaching credential for grades kindergarten through twelfth.
Before completing her doctorate, Dr. Jill earned a master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University in School Counseling for children in kindergarten through twelfth grade, with a second credential in Pupil Personnel Services. Lastly, she earned her PsyD from California Southern University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Jill belongs to the California Psychological Association and the Ventura County Psychologist’s Assoc.
When it comes to children, Dr. Jill's philosophy is that each child is a unique individual who has different experiences and needs. She believes that social skills should be taught actively through hands-on experiences delivered with the utmost compassion and respect. Dr. Jill knows that children learn through observational modeling and need to practice what they learn to fine-tune their skills. Just like reading, math, and sports skills, social skills need to be used on a daily basis to sharpen and strengthen them.
As with children, adults seem to enjoy learning the strategies that help them to relax and think in a more positive way. Dr. Jill is Level 3 certified in Rational Living Therapy. Rational Living Therapy teaches self-counseling skills to help limit destructive behavior and irrational thoughts and aid individuals in leading a happier and healthier life.
